Hiring FAQs

  • Do you only have costumes for hire ?
    No we have a wide variety of costumes and accessories for sale as well as a huge range for hire.
  • Do you have costumes for adults and children?
    Yes we have sale & hire costumes for adults and children for all occasions.
  • I've seen a costume I really like but don't need it straight away, what can I do to make sure it will be available when I need it ?
    All our hire costumes can be reserved by paying half the appropriate hiring fee/s when you select the costume/s. This is deducted from the full amount at the time of hiring/collection. Reservation fees are not refundable in the case of cancellation or non collection of costume/s.
  • How do I hire a costume ?
    We will need your name & address details and confirmation of your current address - a utility bill, bank statement or current driver's license. The appropriate hiring fees plus a security deposit. The deposit (usually twice the hiring fee depending on costume hired and confirmation of personal details), is normally put onto a manual credit card slip and returned to you, unprocessed, when the costume is returned to us on time, in good condition and with all component parts included. We do accept cash deposits.
  • What happens if I get a costume home and find that there is something missing or wrong with it ?
    Customers are always given the opportunity to check their costume/s before leaving the shop, however in the rare event that a problem is discovered the customer must call the shop immediately to inform us of the problem. Outside our normal shop hours the customer should leave a message on our answerphone so that we are aware of the problem.
  • What happens if I spill something on the costume or it gets torn or gets a cigarette burn in it, should I try to clean or repair it?
    No. All our costumes are carefully inspected when they are returned to the shop and at the time of cleaning, and light soiling will be dealt with when the costumes are cleaned by us. If there is excessive soiling/staining, personal soiling/staining an extra charge may be made to cover the extra time/special cleaning that may be required to bring the item back to our very high standards. If a costume is damaged in any way an extra charge will be made for the cost of the repair or, in cases of serious damage a charge for the replacement of the costume will be made. If items included with the costume at the time of hire are lost or not returned ( including our garment/shoe bags and hangers), a charge will be made to replace those items if they can be replaced. In the case that an integral item cannot be replaced, a charge for a replacement costume may be made.
  • What happens if I go to a party and somehow the costume gets wrecked?
    FunZone expects all hirers to act in a responsible manner when using/wearing our costumes, to treat our property with care and respect and to return those items back to us on time and in the same condition as they left our premises. As in the previous answer - all heavy soiling, personal soiling, damage or loss will be charged for.
  • I completely forget to return my costume on time, what should I do?
    We understand that occasionally circumstances occur which may delay or prevent you returning a costume on time, in this case please call the shop as soon as possible to let us know that you are delayed. Return the costume to us at your very earliest opportunity or ask a friend to bring it for you. The late return fee is 25% of the hire fee for each day or part day it is late.
  • I'm under 18 but you have a really cool costume I want to hire, can I do that ?
    Under 18's can hire costumes but need a responsible adult to act as guarantor for them. We will require the same details and deposits from the adult as for a normal hiring. The adult guarantor will be required to understand and accept the same requirements & responsibilities for hire as if it were their own hiring and will have to provide the security deposit.
  • Can I lend a costume I've hired to my friend ?
    No, costumes must only be worn by the person who has hired them and must not be used by a third party. The hirer will be held entirely responsible for the costume/s until they are safely & completely returned to FunZone.
  • I want to hire a costume but don't have time to try it on, what happens if I get it home and it doesn't fit or isn't suitable, can I get my money back?
    It is entirely the hirer's responsibility to make sure the costume fits and is suitable before hiring. No refunds will be given under these circumstances.
  • The event I was going to has been cancelled/ I was ill and couldn't go/ the costume wasn't worn, can I have a refund ?
    No, once a costume has been hired and removed from the shop it is deemed to be hired and no refund will be given. We will have lost the opportunity to show it or hire to other customers during that period and it will have to be cleaned once returned, (even if apparently unworn), to ensure that it is in the best condition possible for subsequent customers.
  • I want to return a costume on Sunday but you're not open, can I leave it with someone else or put it through the letter box ?
    No. When you return a costume we will physically check it to make sure it is in good condition and everything that was included with it is also returned, including our hanger/s and the bag/s that it left the shop in. Your deposit will be refunded if there are no problems and you will have to sign for the return. If there are any problems we will discuss charges with you.
  • I've hired a costume but it doesn't fit as exactly as I would like it to, can I adjust or alter it ?
    No adjustments or alterations are to be made in any way to any costume without prior consent by FunZone. If alterations are made to costumes without our consent then you may well be charged to correct it.
